Are You prepared If and When It Goes Wrong
At present the case of Simon Harwood, the Metropolitan Police Officer who unlawfully killed Ian Tomlinson, the person who died at the G20 protests in London, is headline news. In the press coverage on the 5th May 2011, Britain’s most Senior Police Officer and Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Paul Stevenson, denied making a “fall-guy” out of Simon Harwood, after being accused by the Ulster Unionist Peer Lord Maginnis of being prepared to “surrender” PC Harwood.
The question you may wish to ask yourself is: “Are my family and I prepared for what will happen if and when something goes wrong?”
Are you and you family prepared for the fact that you could be held accountable – hung out to dry, that you could be the “fall-guy”? Have you considered that the very organisation that may have trained you will be the first to condemn you? Are you prepared for the impact that this can have on you and your family and your health? Well next time you think about the tangible cost of training, just think for a moment about the potential intangible costs.
